About TONED BY KIM

Kim competed in bodybuilding competition at the age of 47.

Kim is a certified personal trainer, trauma-informed weightlifting coach, bodybuilding competitor, and solo mom of two teens.

  Kim obtained her personal training certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine at the age of 40. Her passion for fitness also led her to pursue bodybuilding competitions, where she placed 1st in NYC's Regional Natural Bikini Show in the Over 40's category. Kim also completed a coaching certificate course in the Trauma-Informed Weight Lifting program. 


She integrated her personal experiences, along with her credentials and education in fitness, into her MINDBODY TRANSFORMATION PROGRAM.

How Kim was in 2017 and how she is now in late 40's.

Her very first journey in fitness started in 2017 when she was 40.

Kim decided to transform her body after experiencing prolonged depression caused by traumatic past experiences and the exhaustion of being a solo parent in New York City. After the birth of her first and second child, she also endured years of carpal tunnel syndrome and postpartum hip pain.


Initially, Kim worked with personal trainers, which helped her feel less intimidated by the gym environment and weight training. However, the male trainers she worked with didn’t fully understand the female body. It wasn’t until Kim took charge of her own nutrition and made key lifestyle changes that she finally began to see real, lasting results.

Kim started structured fitness training at 40, all while managing two kids and a full-time business alone.

Kim wasn't into boot camp-style training, HIT, or circuit training at all. After a HIT session, she often felt too exhausted the next day and had to rest for two or three days after. She wanted something more sustainable and tempo-focused—something she could continue without risking injury from fast-paced movements.


 Her program places a strong emphasis on the Time Under Tension method, which fundamentally manipulates the tempo of each workout movement. The program consists of a workout plan tailored to each individual, meal and water intake recommendations, and tips for lifestyle changes. Without all of these elements synthesized into your daily life, transformation cannot happen!

In her late 40s, Kim feels the strongest and most confident she ever has—inside and out. Her new routine didn’t just reshape her body, it made her skin glow too!

Kim’s initial motivation was her children—she wanted to stay strong and have lasting energy to care for them. She envisioned herself as a resilient mother: stable on the inside and strong on the outside—a true role model for her kids. Her first goal was simply to gain enough strength and energy to meet the everyday demands of raising young children.


As she continued her steady workout routine and made consistent dietary changes, Kim felt inspired to learn more. She challenged herself to earn a personal training certification. With one of her sons being neurodivergent, she took it a step further and pursued a certification in Trauma-Informed Weightlifting Coaching. Through this journey, Kim discovered firsthand how strength training and a healthier lifestyle could heal from the inside out.

After years of trial and error, Kim developed a system that helps women finally see results—especially women who had nearly given up.

When Kim first started going to the gym, she was overwhelmed—and afraid of injury. The trainers she met showed her how to use the machines and demonstrated exercises, but no one taught her the essential foundations of strength training: proper breathing techniques, how to control tempo and tension, or how to prepare the body to prevent injury.


Over time, Kim learned how to train smarter, not just harder. She discovered that lifting heavier weights wasn’t the key—lifting with intention, proper technique, and awareness was. She also realized that generic “fits-all” online workouts wouldn’t transform anyone’s body without incorporating the deeper methods she has since mastered.
